WLS is committed to reducing its environmental impact whilst maintaining operations of the highest standard. We recognise our responsibility to shape practice and promote behaviours that contribute to environmental sustainability within the local, national and international community.
WLS supports sustainable energy management practices through a range of strategies documented in the West Gippsland Healthcare Group Environmental Management Plan 2015-2017 (EMP). The EMP sets environmental targets to measure and monitor energy against and sets a governance structure to manage energy consumption.
WLS contributes to environmental sustainability through the following:
- Water saving initiatives - recycling water; capturing rain water for production use and reducing reliance on steam based technology;
- Management controls - trade waste;
- Upgrades to major infrastructure which reduces energy consumption and
- Introduction of new textiles products that require less processing time.
